Announcing the Spring 2020 Reading & Lecture Series

We're delighted to announce the Spring 2020 Reading & Lecture Series! We're going to be hosting a full lineup of world-class poets, so mark your calendars now!

We’ll enjoy poetry readings featuring Carolyn Forché (February 6), Tiana Clark and Monica Sok (February 13), Paisley Rekdal (April 9); Timothy Donnelly  (April 16); and a prose reading from  Fenton Johnson (April 2).

Readings as part of the Art for Justice Project are in full swing, and this spring we're featuring two incredible poets. Ada Limón returns to Tucson (February 20) and Hanif Abdurraqib (March 26) will be presenting all new work that addresses issues of mass incarceration in the United States.

Our Hannelore Quander-Rattee Works-in-Translation Reading this year features Rosa Alcalá (January 30),the author of three books of poetry, most recently MyOTHER TONGUE (Futurepoem, 2017). The Tom Sanders Memorial Reading features writers connected to the University of Arizona. This year's reader is Li-Young Lee (January 23), author of The Undressing (W. W. Norton, 2018); Behind My Eyes (W. W. Norton, 2008); Book of My Nights (BOA Editions, 2001), which won the 2002 William Carlos Williams Award. .

In addition to this Tucson programming we will also offer two readings in Phoenix as part of our ongoing partnership with the Burton Barr Central Library: on Wednesday, 3/35, Hanif Abdurraqib will read, and on Wednesday, 4/8, Paisley Rekdal will visit Phoenix to read from her poetry.

So much gratitude to our co-sponsors, and to you and you and you for coming to hear these remarkable poets. We hope to see you this spring at the Poetry Center!
