Gema Ornelas is the K-12 Education Program Manager and Community Engagement Specialist at the University of Arizona Poetry Center, where she oversees the Poetry Center's K-12 programs, including Writing the Community and the Poetry Out Loud. 

She holds a BA in Art History with a minor in Ethnic Studies from Mills College. Her work centers on the intersection between arts and education.
