Poetry Out Loud Professional Development Workshop

This two day workshop for teachers is built around the National Poetry Out Loud Contest. Participants will increase their comfort and confidence with poetry performance and instructing poetry performance. Participants will receive: free resources, including a DVD of their own poetry performance, a certificate for 10 hours of continuing education credit, and time to develop their own lesson plans and poetry performance. Teachers who register and participate in the National Out Loud Contest for the 2012-2013 school year are eligible for a $100 stipend on a first come first serve basis. While this workshop is especially designed for high school teachers who implement the program in their classrooms and schools, teachers in the middle grades who desire to teach poetry through performance may also find it valuable. The workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. both days with a special performance by participants from 12:30 to 1:30 on the 12th.
