Poetry in Parks: Ada Limón's laureateship project "You Are Here"

On Tuesday Dec. 3rd, U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón will visit Saguaro National Park East to install the sixth public art picnic table as part of her laureateship project "You Are Here."  The project pairs poetry in National Park spaces to encourage introspection, refection, and new ways to imagine and pay attention.  The installation at Sagauro National Park East is the sixth of seven installations, and will feature work from Tucson poet Ofelia Zepeda.  The installation will be at 1pm at Mica View Picnic Area at Sagauro National Park East.  Registration for the Dec. 3rd program has been capped at 150 people, and RSVPs are required; RSVPs include free park admission that day.  To RSVP for the Dec. 3 program, please call the Rincon Mountain Visitors Center at 520-733-5153.  Full event details from the National Parks Service website is available here.

Please note that the Dec. 3rd program will be outdoors: water, and sun protection and bringing your own portable seating is encouraged!   Directions for parking will be included when you RSVP; attendees can expect to park offsite and be shuttled in to the Mica View Picnic Area.  As such, arriving early to allow time for shuttle service is also encouraged.

Ada Limón will give a free public reading on the University of Arizona campus on Wednesday, Dec. 4th; no RSVP is required for this event, and seating is first come, first served.  Full event details for the Dec. 4th reading are here.
