The words Barcode Poems by Kyle Flemmer repeated and spaced to look like a barcode.

Visual poetry (in its broadest definition) is poetry meant to be seen, with image and word dancing together on the page. The Poetry Center Library has a growing collection of visual poetry, ranging from a poem-as-garden-design by Ian Hamilton Finlay to contemporary poems that use bar codes and paint chips as structural constraints. In this exhibition, we present visual poetry that expands our notions of what a poem can do and be on the page.

This is a physical exhibit that will be displayed in the Jeremy Ingalls Gallery at the Poetry Center.
