Meeting will take place in the Poetry Center's Alumni Room, Room 205; limit 12 students. General registration for Fall 2026 Classes & Workshops will open on Tuesday, August 25th at 10:00am.
In this class, Layli Long Soldier will give an artist talk on revision and share poems from her archives to discuss their evolution from the early stages to final forms. We will talk about openness to “failure,” listening carefully to the piece, and working with constraints in the pursuit of liberation. Long Soldier will share a few “golden rules” she has developed along the way. We will also do a few experiments in revision together and, as a class, share our favorite best practices with each other.
