Poetry Out Loud Southern Region Competition

Saturday, February 23, 2019 - 1:00pm to 4:00pm

Poetry Out Loud: National Recitation Contest is a national program for high school students and teachers that seeks to foster the next generation of literary readers through recitation and performance. The National Endowment for the Arts and The Poetry Foundation partner with state agencies to bring the Poetry Out Loud (POL) program to all 50 states and the US territories.

POL uses a pyramid structure that starts at the classroom level. Winners advance to a school-wide competition, then to a regional and/or state competition, and utlimately to the National Finals. The Poetry Center is thrilled to host this year's Southern Region semi-finals competition on Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at the University of Arizona Poetry Center.

This event is free and open to the public. Be sure to mark your calendars and join us as we support students competing for placement in the Arizona state finals!
