Writing the Community is a school-based creative writing residency program for K–12 students that fosters creative and critical thinking, encourages a love of reading and writing, and helps students find their voice.
Each fall and spring, the University of Arizona Poetry Center places professional writers in local classrooms for six- to eight-week creative writing residencies. At the conclusion of each program, students share their work at a celebratory public reading, and one poem or story from each student is published in the annual city-wide anthology.
Join us for this year’s Writing the Community Celebratory Reading on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the University of Arizona Poetry Center. This event is free and open to the public.
We hope to see you there!
