The Interaction of Voice and Point of View in Creating Character in Fiction

Although the intricacies of the use of point of view in fiction have been the subject of endless discussion, often that discussion focuses more on technical aspects than on the importance of using point of view and narrative voice hand in hand to create vivid characters. Contrary to the popular view, it is the voice of the character, not the writer, that is of the greatest importance. The workshop will offer some examples of use of voice and POV together, followed by a discussion of the topic and a brief small group workshop.
