First meeting of "Curious Beginnings: Introduction to Fiction Writing"

Meets Mondays, September 13 through November 1, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Are you curious about what story you want to tell, or how to tell it? Come to this introductory fiction writing workshop and explore traditional prose techniques using untamed prompts. Through a variety of texts and discussions, we’ll study characterization, viewpoint, story line, imagery, dialogue, and pacing. In-class writing, sharing, and curious revision practices will lead us to your particular voice and subjects. Students will produce a series of polished short-short stories, while generating ideas for longer short stories or novels. We’ll let maps, dreams, nests, ruins, gardens, walls, work, voices, ghosts, and letters lead us to the stories you’re ready to tell.
