Director’s Choice presents historic readings from the University of Arizona Poetry Center’s extensive audiovisual archive Voca, as selected by past and present leadership of the Center, including Gail Browne, Alison Hawthorne Deming, Tyler Meier, and Frances Sjoberg. 

This reading from James Wright was originally given on February 21st, 1973. Wright reads extensively from his collections Two Citizens, which had been recently published, and The Branch Will Not Break, at the time published a decade earlier. The latter is recognized as a quintessential collection that established Wright’s place in American poetry. Wright’s work was recognized with the Pulitzer Prize.
