Celebrating Aurelie Sheehan

Thursday, March 21, 2024 - 7:00pm

Join us to help celebrate and remember the legacy of one of Tucson’s most vibrant authors and beloved creative writing professors, Aurelie Sheehan, who died on August 13th, 2023. This event will be streamed live on our website in addition to the in-person program.

There will be a light reception in the Poetry Center breezeway before the program, to begin at 6:30pm, with remarks (and livestream) beginning at 7pm.  Free parking is available in all surface lots spaces surrounding the Poetry Center after 5pm.

This public celebration will include readings, remarks, and reminiscences from Sheehan’s colleagues and students.  A professor of English for more than 24 years at the University of Arizona, Sheehan was the author of the novels The Anxiety of Everyday Objects and History Lesson for Girls, the short story collections Jack Kerouac Is Pregnant and Demigods on Speedway, the novella This Blue, and two books of shorter prose pieces: Jewelry Box: A Collection of Histories and Once into the Night.
