Take a trip into the Poetry Center’s past through photographs, letters, postcards, posters, newsletters, and more that tell the story of American poetry as it passes through Tucson. You’ll find a telegram from Elizabeth Bishop, photographs of Lucille Clifton among the saguaros, a letter of congratulations to student contest finalist Li-Young Lee. Beginning with the Center’s founding in 1960, this exhibit invites you to peek behind the curtain into the daily existence of the Poetry Center, where you’ll meet the poets and lovers of poetry who have been its lifeblood through the decades.
