Pop-up Exhibit: Summer of Chapbooks

The Poetry Center is home to thousands of chapbooks, many of which are housed in our archives room where their thin and typically delicate bindings can be kept safe and in good condition for generations of readers to come. This pop-up exhibit brings a selection of chapbooks out of the archives room for readers to browse and enjoy. Chapbooks are short collections of work often akin to the zine or pamphlet. Many emerging authors find their first foray into publishing via the chapbook. Lightweight and portable, chapbooks are known for their ability to be shared and exchanged widely.

During the months of June, July, and August, this pop-up exhibit offers a broad and easy-to-browse selection from our collection of poetry chapbooks. With a monthly rotating selection and chapbooks from small presses such as New Michigan, Hyacinth Girl, Seven Kitchens, Finishing Line, and Dancing Girl you’re sure to find inspiration here. A list of works to be displayed for the month of June, July, & August can be found below.
