The Poetry Center at AWP!

Heading to AWP at the end of March?  Look for the Poetry Center in these places!

Join us at Bookfair Booth #357--we're thrilled to host Sealey Challenge founder Nicole Sealey on Thursday (3/27) and Saturday (3/29) from 1-1:30 both days.  Come meeting Nicole and learn more about the Sealey Challenge!  You can pick up postcards, certificates, and medallions (golden sealies!) to support the August read.  We'll also have information about Voca, the Poetry Center's archive of recorded poetry readings, our podcast Poetry Centered and a range of vintage Poetry Center Reading Series posters.

Join us for our featured event-- a launch reading of Like a Hammer: Poets on Mass Incarceration. Edited by Diana Marie Delgado, published by Haymarket Books, and born out of the Poetry Center's Art for Justice project, Like a Hammer is an anthology of poems that unearths the shared traumas produced by America’s incarceration system.  The anthology explores how art and imagination can serve as vehicles for endurance, offering us the hope to envision a better future.  The reading will take place on Friday, 3/28 at 1:45pm in Petree Hall D,  Los Angeles Convention Center and will feature Angel Nafis, Vanessa Angélica Villareal, Diana Marie Delgado, Tongo Eisen Martin and Marcelo Hernandez Castillo.  See you there!
