Neruda Film Coming To Tucson

So rarely do poets and poems become films, but our friends at The Loft often champion films about poetry. In addition to tomorrow's Welcome To This House screening, an upcoming film about Pablo Neruda promises an in-depth look at the life and times of the poet, with a focus on the political unrest in Chile that so affected his work.

Variety writes, "Neruda is not a biopic but an invention informed by biography, conjuring a richly detailed investigator with notions of self-grandeur who’s hunting the famed leftist writer-politician in 1948 Chile."

This "stunningly inventive" film aims for playfulness and poetry. The trailer appears below, and this coming spring we look forward to Forrest Gander's visit, featuring new Neruda translation.
