Introducing ¡Cuentos del Mundo! in the Children’s Area

The children’s area at the Poetry Center has a new theme and mural! We are excited to introduce the new Brave Books theme: ¡Cuentos del Mundo! To commemorate the new theme, the children’s area features a new mural by Adelynn Olea, of Alleycat Murals.

¡Cuentos del Mundo! celebrates Biblioteca de México in Mexico City. This iteration of Brave Books explores classic and modern literature that overlaps and intersects with what our neighbors in Mexico are reading. Offerings and curriculum center Mexican literature as well as classic stories loved all over the world like fables, fairy tales, folktales and legends.

The space features a story-themed mural and playhouse, themed reading shelf, braille books (UEB), and a rotating interactive exhibit. In Fall 2026, we will host a Bilingual Storytime (English and Spanish) on second Saturdays for children who are infants to 3rd grade and their families.

We are also excited to announce new K-12 field trip offerings, which will fall in line with the theme of ¡Cuentos del Mundo! Not in Arizona? Keep an eye out for themed lesson plans and virtual  field trip offerings in early September!

Stop by to see the new mural and check out the Brave Books titles! You can see the full reading list here: English  |  Español

We hope you feel encouraged to visit! As a reminder, the Poetry Center is free and open to the public, and families are encouraged to come. Visit here to view our current hours. Parking is free on campus surface lots on Saturdays!

If you have any questions about Brave Books: ¡Cuentos del Mundo! and/or the programming we’re offering, please contact the Poetry Center K-12 Education Team at pceducation@arizona.edu
