Announcing the Spring 2022 Reading & Lecture Series

We're delighted to announce the Spring 2022 Reading & Lecture Series! We're going to be hosting a full lineup of world-class poets, so mark your calendars now!

We’ll enjoy poetry readings featuring Forrest Gander (January 6), Jay Hopler and Kimberly Johnson (February 17), Donika Kelly (April 7); Sesshu Foster (April 14); and a prose reading from  Joy Williams (February 3).

Our Morgan Lucas Schuldt Memorial Reading this year features Marwa Helal and Marcello Hernandez Castillo (March 17). Marwa Helal is the author of Ante body (Nightboat Books, 2022), Invasive species (Nightboat Books, 2019), the chapbook I AM MADE TO LEAVE I AM MADE TO RETURN (No Dear, 2017), and winner of BOMB Magazine’s Biennial 2016 Poetry Contest. Helal is the winner of a 2021 Whiting Award. Marcelo Hernandez Castillo is a poet, essayist, translator, and immigration advocate. He is the author of the collection Cenzontle (2018), which won the 2017 A. Poulin Jr. prize, and the chapbook Dulce (2018). His memoir, Children of the Land (2020), is his most recent publication.

In addition, we'll be hosting a reading celebrating participants in our Classes & Workshops for 2021-2022 (May 14) and graduates of the UArizona Creative Writing MFA Program (May 7).

So much gratitude to our co-sponsors, and to you and you and you for coming to hear these remarkable poets. We hope to see you this spring at the Poetry Center!
