We're delighted to announce the Fall 2019 Reading & Lecture Series! We're going to be hosting a full lineup of world-class poets, so mark your calendars now! ***Important note: our readings in Phoenix will now be held at the Burton Barr Public Library. Several readings in Tucson will take place at the Center for Creative Photography.***
We’ll enjoy poetry readings featuring Arthur Sze (November 14) and Dean Young (December 5) at the Poetry Center. Kim Addonizio & Joseph O. Legaspi & Javier Zamora (September 12) will read at the Center for Creative Photography at 6:00 PM in honor of "A Portrait of Poetry." The exhibit is a collaboration between the Poetry Center and the CCP. Matthew Zapruder (November 7) will also read at the CCP.
We'll also enjoy prose readings from T Clutch Fleischmann & Andrea Lawlor (October 10) and Aimee Bender (November 12).
Readings as part of the Art for Justice Project are in full swing, and this fall we're featuring three poets across two nights. Patricia Smith &Angel Nafis (September 26) and Tongo Eisen-Martin (October 17) will be presenting all new work that addresses issues of mass incarceration in the United States.
Our Morgan Lucas Schuldt Memorial Reading this year features Erika L. Sánchez & sam sax (September 5). As part of the College of Humanities' 2019 Tucson Humanities Festival, we will present Sandra Cisneros (October 24) at the UA North Ballroom and Student Union.
In addition to this Tucson programming we will also offer two readings in Phoenix as part of a new partnership with the Burton Barr Public Library: on Wednesday, 9/4, Erika L. Sánchez & sam sax will read, and on Wednesday, 11/6, Matthew Zapruder will visit Phoenix to read from his poetry.
