Tyler Meier
Executive Director

Tyler Meier is the Poetry Center's Executive Director. Prior to coming to the Poetry Center, he served as managing editor at The Kenyon Review and co-director of the Kenyon Review Young Writers Workshop. He received an MFA from the University of Washington, and his poetry and nonfiction have appeared in At Length, AGNI (online), Laurel Review, Bat City Review, jubilat, Washington Square, Thermos, Forklift, Ohio, and elsewhere.

Program Coordinator: K-12 Education

Renee Angle, the Poetry Center's Program Coordinator, oversees administrative and logistical details of educational outreach programs. Her poems have been published in Diagram, Practice New Art + Writing, Sonora Review, EOAGH, I'll Drown My Book: Conceptual Writing By Women, and in the chapbook Lucy Design in the Papal Flea (dancing girl press).

Poetry Center Librarian

Wendy Burk is the recipient of a 2013 National Endowment for the Arts Literature Translation Fellowship. She is the author of two chapbooks, The Deer and The Place Names The Place Named, and the translator of Tedi López Mills’s While Light Is Built. Her work has appeared in VOLT, Trickhouse, Terrain.org, Tin House, Spiral Orb, Colorado Review, and other journals.

Administrative Assistant

Laura Caywood, the Poetry Center's Administrative Assistant, is the administrative hub of the Center's activities. She is also the building manager and provides general support for the Center. Laura has a BA in Art History from the University of Arizona. Laura is a second generation Tucsonan and has also lived in Omaha and Williamsburg, Virginia.

Program Coordinator

Hannah Ensor coordinates the Poetry Center's Reading and Lecture series, contests, & volunteers. She holds an MFA in poetry from the University of Arizona. Her poetry and prose have appeared in Denver Quarterly Review, CutBank, Spork Press, & The Volta, among others. In addition to her role at the Poetry Center, she is a co-editor of textsound.org, an assistant poetry editor for DIAGRAM, & a board member of Casa Libre en la Solana.

Annie Guthrie

Marketing Director

Annie Guthrie is a writer and jeweler from Tucson.  She teaches and is the Marketing Director at the UA Poetry Center. She has work published  inTarpaulin Sky, Ploughshares, Fairy Tale Review, Many Mountains Moving, HNGMAN, The Destroyer, RealPoetik, Everyday Genius, Omniverse, The Volta, Spiral Orb, The Dictionary Project, 1913, A Journal of Forms, Drunken Boat, and more. Her first collection of poetry will be published by Tupelo Press in Fall 2015.

Library Assistant

Julie Swarstad Johnson assists with the Poetry Center’s front desk reception,  daily library operations, and reference services.  She holds an MFA in poetry from Penn State and completed her undergraduate studies in creative writing and anthropology at the University of Arizona.  Her book reviews have appeared in Harvard Review Online, Poet Lore, NewPages, Rain Taxi Review of Books Online, and others.

Cybele Knowles
Digital Media Coordinator

Cybele Knowles oversees the Poetry Center's digital communications, the Classes & Workshops program, and the Closer Look Book Club. She holds an MFA in fiction from the University of Arizona and an MA in English from U.C. Berkeley. Her poetry and prose have appeared in Fairy Tale Review, The Destroyer, Spiral Orb, Diagram, Pindeldyboz, The Asian Pacific American Journal, Faucheuse, and The Prose Poem.

Library Specialist

Sarah Kortemeier assists with the daily operations of the Poetry Center’s library. She holds an MFA in poetry from the University of Arizona. Her work has appeared in Ploughshares, Folio, Sliver of Stone, and Spiral Orb; she has also been a finalist in the annual Gulf Coast and Tennessee Williams Festival Poetry Contests.
