Closer Look Book Club- "Between the World and Me" by Ta-Nehisi Coates

Ta Nehisi Coates "Between the World and Me"  (176 pgs) - Called "required reading" by Toni Morrison this book is written as a letter to his son about growing up as an African American male in America.  From The New Yorker "…a crucial book during this moment of generational awakening".  It won the  2015 National Book Award prize for Non Fiction.

This year the Closer Look Book Club meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 5 p.m. during the school year for discussion of interesting books, mainly fiction, around the theme Cultural Shifts, New Thinking.  To participate in a Book Club conversation, just read the book and join us on the red couches in the lobby of the Poetry Center.  No sign-up is necessary.  The Club is free and open to the public, and you’re welcome to participate in as many or as few meetings as you like. For more information, contact poetry@email.arizona.edu.
