New Preservation Equipment in the Library

Our librarians are having fun with their new vacuum, acquired through a National Endowment for the Humanities Preservation Assistance Grant for Smaller Institutions! The vacuum pictured below is a museum-grade Nilfisk vacuum with a HEPA filter that allows for precise cleaning and has a variable speed motor that can adjust for different materials. The vacuum was recommended by a preservation consultant who was also hired through an NEH grant.

This new equipment is essential for the preservation of books in our public collection, as well as our Archives and Rare Books. And, as you can see, it's fun to use!
