Brent Cunningham

Brent Cunningham is a writer, publisher and visual artist living in Oakland, California. His first book of poetry, Bird & Forest, was published by Ugly Duckling Presse in 2005; his second book, Journey to the Sun, came out recently on Atelos Press. From 2001-2007 Brent served as a board member at Small Press Traffic (SPT), the premier presenting organization in San Francisco for avant-garde poetry. During his tenure he was one of the founding curators of SPT’s “Poets Theater” festival, which is now an annual ritual of amateur experimental theater held each January in the Bay Area. He and Neil Alger are the founders of Hooke Press, a chapbook press dedicated to publishing short runs of poetry, criticism, theory, writing and ephemera. Brent has worked for Small Press Distribution in Berkeley since 1999 and currently serves as their Operations Director.
