Poetry Center Receives NEA Art Works Grant

We're thrilled to announce that The University of Arizona Poetry Center has been awarded an Art Works grant to support the 53rd year of the Center's acclaimed Readings and Lecture Series.  The $20,000 award will support expenses incurred by the series in bringing poets and artists to Tucson for free engagements open to the community and slated throughout the program year.  Art Works grants are funded based on the recommendation of a peer review panel. The Poetry Center's proposed project most directly addresses the core Art Works outcomes of engagement with the arts and lifelong learning through the arts.  "The support of the NEA is both symbolically and practically very important for the Poetry Center," notes Executive Director Tyler Meier.  "It makes possible the deeper connections that are so important in our aspirations to play a significant local, regional, and national role with our poetry programming and our ardent support for the art form."  The Center will publicly announce the schedule for the 14-15 Reading and Lecture Series in the August 2014.
