Deadline for LaVerne Harrell Clark Fiction Award

This award has been established in the memory of LaVerne Harrell Clark, noted author and photographer, and first director of the University of Arizona Poetry Center. Guidelines for the LHC Fiction Award:

Open to all UA graduate students in the Creative Writing or English Department.

2014 Judge: Elizabeth Frankie Rollins, author of The Sin Eater and Other Stories (Queen's Ferry Press, 2013).

Deadline: February 14, 2014 by 5 p.m..

We're now only accepting submissions via Submittable. Paper submissions will not be accepted. Please make sure the pieces you submit are exactly as you want them. Revisions will not be accepted while your work is under review. Winners will be allowed to revise once the work has been accepted.

Submissions should include:

  • Submit a typed manuscript of up to 20 pages of fiction (ex: short story, novel excerpt).
  • The manuscript should be included in one document.
  • We only accept DOC, DOCX, PDF, and RTF files.
  • Name should not appear on work.
