A Poetic Inventory of Saguaro National Park

04/16/2012 - 7:00pm

Leading up to the Fall 2011 Bioblitz at Saguaro National Park, Tucson poet and naturalist Eric Magrane created A Poetic Inventory of Saguaro National Park, in which he gathered close to one hundred poets and prose writers to contribute pieces based on species in the park. To coincide with the April launch of a special issue of Spiral Orb featuring the work from the Poetic Inventory, come hear poetry and prose addressing species such as the Bark Scorpion, Jumping Cholla, Flicker, Saguaro, Mountain Lion, Gila Monster, Sacred Datura, Tarantula, Western Diamond-Backed Rattlesnake, and Harris Hawk. Reading with Magrane will be Christopher Cokinos, Laynie Browne, Alison Hawthorne Deming, Annie Guthrie, Cybele Knowles, Ken Lamberton, Kristen Nelson, Logan Phillips, Maria Elena Wakamatsu, Joshua Marie Wilkinson, and others.

And please join us for a reception in celebration of the reading at 6:00 pm in the Poetry Center's breezeway, immediately prior to the reading. Have some snacks and nonalcoholic drinks, enjoy the weather, and say hi to the poets and authors!
