Poetry in the 21st Century with Joel Arthur

In this eight-week literature class, we will read, discuss, and listen to the exciting directions in American poetry from the year 2000 to the present. We will explore notable poems and essays written by some of the 21st century’s most daring and accomplished poets, including Cathy Park-Hong, Dan Beachy-Quick, Matthea Harvey, Robyn Schiff, and others. Expect to investigate movements and trends such as conceptual poetry, Gurlesque, flarf, IMMAGINE&POESIA, virtual poetics, Vispo, and others.
