Closer Look Book Club- "The Sympathizer" by Viet Thanh Nguyen

Viet Thanh Nguyen, "The Sympathizer"  (384 pgs).  The protagonist is an Americanized Vietnamese who is a double agent for the Communists.  The Washington Post called it "a new classic of war fiction"  and the Wall Street Journal said it was "intelligent, relentlessly paced and savagely funny".  It is the winner of the 2016 Pulitzer for fiction.

This year the Closer Look Book Club meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 5 p.m. during the school year for discussion of interesting books, mainly fiction, around the theme Cultural Shifts, New Thinking.  To participate in a Book Club conversation, just read the book and join us on the red couches in the lobby of the Poetry Center.  No sign-up is necessary.  The Club is free and open to the public, and you’re welcome to participate in as many or as few meetings as you like.
