Magda Szabó, “The Door” (288 pgs).  An intriguing book about a relationship between two women, one a writer, intellectual, married to an academic, the other a stoic, uneducated housekeeper.  The New York Times Book Review said it has  "the elemental force of myth" and listed it as one of the 10 Best Books of the Year.

This year the Closer Look Book Club meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 5 p.m. during the school year for discussion of interesting books, mainly fiction, around the theme Cultural Shifts, New Thinking.  To participate in a Book Club conversation, just read the book and join us on the red couches in the lobby of the Poetry Center. No sign-up is necessary.  The Club is free and open to the public, and you’re welcome to participate in as many or as few meetings as you like.
